From cocaine in the White House to the riots in France, the corporate media will jump at any opportunity to ignore the obvious.
What better way to celebrate Independence Day than with the protection of free speech from government censors – for once! In the Missouri v. Biden case filed in 2022, the attorneys general of Louisiana and Missouri claimed the Biden administration partnered with various social media platforms like Twitter, Facebook, and Google to “censor opposing viewpoints” – under the Orwellian guise of policing “misinformation.”
On Tuesday, Judge Terry Doughty of the United States District Court for the Western District of Louisiana determined the case is likely to prevail on its First Amendment claims, and issued an immediate preliminary injunction against the government defendants and their “censorship campaign.”
Meanwhile, during a routine scan on Sunday, Secret Service officials discovered a white powder substance in the West Wing of the White House. A response by a hazmat team and a temporary evacuation of the premises quickly followed. The substance was sent off for analysis and tests came back positive for cocaine.
Many media reports on the event were quick to assure readers that the substance was found in an area accessible to tourists and visitors, after conflicting reports of its location. Did they forget that self-reported cocaine addict and walking corruption scandal Hunter Biden is potentially living in the White House, under the protection of his powerful father? Just imagine the media accusations if illegal drugs were found anywhere near the Trump White House.
Read Margot Cleveland’s coverage of a holiday weekend news dump about the continuing Justice Department corruption scandal over an IRS investigation into Hunter Biden – and what it suggests about Attorney General Merrick Garland’s testimony to Congress.
About a week ago, riots broke out in France following the shooting of 17-year-old French-Algerian Nahel Merzouk by a French police officer, after Merzouk apparently attempted to drive off during a traffic stop. The shooting took place on Tuesday, June 27 in a Parisian suburb; the violent riots are mostly affecting Paris but also broke out in other cities, including Marseilles and Strasbourg.
As looting and fires sweep through French cities, rioters claim to be protesting racism within the French police force. (Sound familiar?) The violence, which included an attack on the home and family of a French mayor, has led to the deployment of 45,000 police officers and more than 700 arrests in one night across various cities.
Keep an eye on what’s going on in Ukraine: Volodymyr Zelensky is suggesting the Russians have placed what appear to be explosive devices on their own nuclear power plant and are planning on blowing it up and framing Ukraine. According to Zelensky, this demands the attention of the rest of the world and must be stopped. Russia, meanwhile, insists Ukraine poses the primary threat to the power plant.
